Incorporated in 2003, Global Furniture Solutions Vietnam Co. Ltd. is a sole-proprietary company, owned and operated by Leslie W. Matheson, a full-time resident of Vietnam.  Structurally, GFS Vietnam is constituted by two individual business-units, the manufacturing facility & showroom located in Binh Duong Province, and the agency office, centrally located in Binh Thanh District, both in Ho Chi Minh City. 

Producing solid-timber bedroom, occasional dining-room furniture and lounge suites the production facility supplies local and international furniture buyers with what has been called by industry-people ‘the highest-quality furniture to be found in Asia’.  Traditionally, GFS Vietnam produced only for wholesale and retail clients, however more recently with the commencement of contract-production, GFS Vietnam has expanded beyond these markets, now providing hotels, resorts and furnished apartment developments with an interior fit-out solution.

The agency office supplies local and international furniture & accessory buyers with a product-sourcing and quality-control service, resourcing manufacturers not only in Vietnam, but also in Malaysia, China and Indonesia.  Timely delivery of a quality product, precisely to specification, is guaranteed by the maintenance of a comprehensive manufacturer data-base and thorough on-site quality inspections. 

Cumulatively, GFS Vietnam provides, in line with its Mission Statement, the furniture industry globally with a comprehensive supply solution, ensuring quality, price-competitiveness and reliable, timely delivery. 

Human Resources

GFS Vietnam is owned and operated by its Managing Director, Leslie W. Matheson, a manufacturer with industry-experience exceeding 30 years. Both the production facility and the agency office have, as their General Manager, a Malaysian-Chinese with significant manufacturing and product-sourcing experience, and prior to his current post, a 20 year back-ground in quality-control. 

Inside the agency office, GFS Vietnam maintains a team of sourcing personnel, directly managed by a Malaysian Chinese, also with significant product-sourcing experience, and a previous career in quality-control.  The sourcing-team is available for enquiries 6 days a week, and cumulatively speaks a combination of Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese, Indonesian, Vietnamese and English. The sourcing team is also proficient in the use of Auto-Cad, and possesses a significant data-base of furniture and accessory manufacturers to assist buyers with specific product sourcing and quality-control with a minimum of time and expense.

Inside the production facility, GFS Vietnam maintains a product design team, proficient in the use of Auto-Cad, comprised of some 6 people, as well as an administration comprised of some 20 people.  Given that a high-degree of English is spoken within the administration, and given further an experienced proficiency in the execution of import/export documentation, clients can be assured of a head-ache free experience when purchasing from GFS Vietnam.  On the production floor a total of some 600 employees can be accommodated, inclusive of section-management, tiered supervision, sample-makers and quality-control personnel. 

Over it’s 7 year history GFS Vietnam has accumulated, across its many divisions and departments, an extremely efficient, motivated and effective team.  

The Production Facility &  Machinery Park

The GFS Vietnam production facility is situated on a 150,000 square-foot plot in Binh Duong Province approximately one hour north of Ho Chi Minh City, and houses a 90,000 square-foot under-cover factory, a 5,000 square-foot showroom & office and a 3,000 square-foot staff-canteen. Within the factory is housed a state of the art machinery park, comprised, in part, of computerised ‘point-to-point’ routers, computerised wide-belt sanders, computerised panel-saws, automatic front-loading beam-saws and a mechanised finishing/polishing line. Accordingly, the production facility has the capacity to produce and finish up to 75 40’HC containers of high-end product per month, in addition to product-samples as required.  Given the combination of the machinery park, skilled and efficient management staff and a dedicated quality-control team, the GFS Vietnam product is always of a consistently high quality and finish.

The GFS Vietnam Product

The GFS Vietnam production facility manufactures its product using only sustainable Australian timber-species.  Such timber-species include Victorian Ash, Wormy Chestnut, Silver-Top, Cut-tail, Marri, Jarrah and Pine. Of recent time and due to demand other materials such as White Oak and Longi have been added to available used species. The manufacturing process itself is a unique combination of new and innovative technology, superimposed upon traditional and timeless method. The GFS Vietnam cabinetry is manufactured in predominantly solid-timber, using a traditional dove-tail joining method, 15mm drawer-boxes with 4.5mm ply bases, and steel ball-bearing double-extension runners.  Only steel hard-ware is used throughout the product range, guaranteeing the products quality and longevity.  Where price is a consideration, quality Australian veneers are also implemented, although the vast majority of the GFS Vietnam product is manufactured using only solid timber.  The product range itself varies from classic ‘farm-house’ through French-Colonial to modern-contemporary, however the presence and efforts of the design and auto-cad teams ensure that no matter what a client’s design-aspirations may be, GFS Vietnam can realise them.
